Meet John

John Raven, a certified Spinefulness instructor, has been studying the art of natural alignment, pain-free posture, and movement for 16 years and teaching it for 8. Over the years, he has trained extensively with both leading French and American teachers in this work, taking over 20 extended trips to California and France, often spending two months or more in France at a time to learn from the best teachers in the world. Today, as an American expat in France, John serves as a unique bridge between the pioneering French experts and the leading American teachers of this work.

At 16, John developed arthritis in his big toes, and by 23, he could barely walk—even short distances, like to the bathroom—without extreme pain. A bad bicycle accident followed, along with two other serious injuries. After exhausting all other treatments, he was told surgery was his only option, but within three days of studying with the top French teachers, he became completely pain-free. Over time, he learned how to live in natural alignment on his own, leading to a full recovery.

SpineTuned has not only freed him from pain but also given him a deeper sense of alignment, both physically and in his own path. It is more than just the body—it is a way of being that restores ease, clarity, and deep inner strength. Not only does it lighten the body and the being, but it also lightens the path and journey ahead.

John was deeply shocked by the power of this approach—how complex problems were solved so quickly and how deeply it transformed his body and mind. But he was also shocked that despite its strong academic respect, this work remained relatively unknown to the general public. Even more concerning, he saw that the world’s best teachers, some with over 65 years of experience, were aging without a clear next generation to carry their work forward.

After experiencing the profound effects of this work, John committed himself to mastering it at the highest level possible, learning directly from the master teachers and working towards their standard while also making this knowledge as accessible as possible to the general public. His mission is to preserve, evolve, and pass down this invaluable work so that more people can experience the same life-changing benefits that transformed his own life.

As a part of this continually evolving community, he is honored to contribute to refining this knowledge and ensuring it reaches as many people as possible.

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”

— Marcel Proust
